Analysis of SARS CoV-2 Variant Genomes**
Abstract
SARS CoV-2 is the virus that causes COVID-19 and has spread around the world. While it is common knowledge that mutation has produced variants of SARS CoV-2, it is popularly less well-appreciated how many variants have arisen during the pandemic and how their dynamics of spread have played out. In this study we demonstrate how easy it is to identify new variants of the virus in freely available public databases, analyze the mutations they harbor and examine their rise and fall.
