THE EFFECT OF THE ACIDITY OF VARIOUS PROMOTERS ON THE CATALYTIC ACTIVITY OF SINGLE ATOM PT CATALYSTS FOR VARIOUS OXIDATION REACTIONS**

Abstract

Nano-scale particles have unique properties which distinguish them from their bulk counterparts owing to their reduced size and confinement. Particularly, atomically-dispersed metal particles so called single-atom catalysts (SAC) have shown remarkable catalytic activity for various reactions. In this work we investigate the effect of the acidity of various promoters with different acidity on the catalytic reactions of single atom Pt catalysts (Pt SAC) fixed on alumina (Al2O3). For this purpose, we have chosen three promoters (WO2, MgO, and Al2O3) to assist the Pt SAC/Al2O3. WO2 is acidic and MgO is basic whereas Al2O3 is both basic and acidic. We measured and compared the promoting effects of these secondary catalysts for CO oxidation, methanol decomposition, and CO oxidation with water.
