SURVEY OF TESS CANDIDATE STARS FOR EXOPLANET TRANSIT PHOTOMETRY ANALYSIS
Abstract
TESS supplies high-precision photometry necessary to identify exoplanets via periodic flux dimming. For this project, a screening of 50 TESS target stars was done to find suitable candidates for future transit searches. The work developed a custom Python pipeline using Lightkurve and Astroquery to download light curves from MAST, process them, and apply sigma clipping to remove systematics and outliers. An initial quality assessment indicates that 16 out of the total 50 stars have sufficiently clean and stable flux measurements to merit being followed up. These results provide a demonstration of the processing pipeline's performance in screening large numbers of targets from TESS.
